Caleb Ekuban

In the 2023/2024 season, Caleb Ekuban, returning after a serious injury, has been performing more convincingly: several goal-scoring actions have helped his club Genoa reach the middle of the Serie A table and fell safe in terms of avoiding relegation.

However, the Ghanaian is still far from his best form: only good statistics and the leadership qualities of the forward will convince the club to extend his contract expiring in the summer.

What is Caleb Ekuban’s salary at Genoa?Β

The Ghanaian national team forward joined the Italian team in the summer of 2021: the agreement is valid until June 30, 2024. For the remaining season, Ekuban will earn €1,280,000 excluding bonuses, which amounts to €24,615 per week.

Team Salary Overview: Ekuban Among the Top Three Highest-Paid Ghanaian Players in Serie AΒ

Caleb Ekuban

In the 2024 season, Genoa’s total expenditure on salaries amounts to €32,050,000 per year, or €616,346 per week. The highest-paid player in the team is winger Junior Messias. The Brazilian receives €3,700,000 per year: €71,154 per week.Β

Caleb Ekuban, in turn, ranks ninth in the salary ranking, sharing it with Spanish defender Aaron Martin and Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi. Additionally, the Ghanaian forward ranks among the top three highest-paid non-European players in the Italian club. Following him, Mexican Johan Vasquez earns €250,000 less. Ekuban also ranks second among African footballers at Genoa. David Ankeye, who is in third place, earns almost half as much.

Career Salary ComparisonΒ

Caleb Ekuban

After four loans, the Ghanaian forward failed to secure a place in the AC ChievoVerona squad and moved to a Championship team, resulting in his salary increasing by approximately 3.5 times. Unsuccessful performances for Leeds United F.C. and the subsequent loan agreement with Trabzonspor led to a slight decrease in earnings: only by €1,500.Β

However, in the 2019/2020 season, Ekuban helped the Turkish club win the Cup and Super Cup, and his salary increased by more than 10.5 times, remaining the same even after moving to Italy. Thus, the Ghanaian footballer continues to receive the highest income of his career.

Market Value: Sharp Decline After Returning to ItalyΒ

Until his move to England, Ekuban’s transfer value ranged from €50,000 to €200,000. However, the last loan before joining Leeds United F.C. was the most successful and productive for Caleb Ekuban, leading to a more than fourfold increase in the transfer amount.Β

Due to constant injuries in the 16/17 season, the striker’s value decreased by 1.5 times. However, during his time in Turkey, the transfer fee of the Ghanaian player constantly increased. In three seasons at Trabzonspor, Ekuban scored 48 goals and won two trophies, and his transfer amount increased by 14 times, reaching its peak. However, after returning to Italy, Ekuban faced a decline in performance and frequent injuries, resulting in a sevenfold decrease in his value over two seasons. Currently, Transfermarkt evaluates the forward at €1 million.

National Team AchievementsΒ

Born in the province of Verona, Caleb Ekuban had the opportunity to represent both Italy and Ghana, but in 2017, he decided in favor of the Black Stars. The forward made his debut for the national team in the spring of 2019 and a few months later participated in his only Africa Cup of Nations in his career.Β

In that tournament, the Ekuban played in two matches, and Ghana reached the round of 16, where they lost to Tunisia on penalties. Ekuban was last called up to the national team in the autumn of 2021. In total, the Ghanaian forward has played 12 matches for the national team, scoring three goals.

Football and Financial ProspectsΒ

In the 2023/2024 season, Caleb Ekuban remains one of the main players of the Italian team, despite missing five rounds due to muscle problems. The forward has scored two goals and provided one assist. If the Ghanaian footballer helps Genoa secure their place in Serie A, there is a chance that the club will extend his contract on more favorable terms.
