Raymond Asante’s manager, Sammy Anim Addo, believes the forward’s permanent move to Belgian side Charleroi is the right step for his career.
Asante, 20, has signed a permanent contract with the club until June 2026, with an option to extend until 2028. This follows his initial loan move from Udinese.
The Ghanaian forward was a standout performer for Udinese’s youth team last season, playing a pivotal role in their U-19 side’s promotion to Primavera 1. He recorded an impressive 21 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
“Raymond’s deal is a step in the right direction. Charleroi wants to build a future with Raymond, and when a club shows that kind of commitment, it means they are ready to provide the right opportunities,” Anim Addo said in an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa.
“I believe they see Raymond as someone who has now settled in well, and it’s the right time for him to take the next step in his career. By making his transfer permanent, the club has shown its belief in him. It will help him focus and seize the opportunities ahead. Lately, he’s been on the bench, waiting for his moment to shine. He’s hungry for more, and he’s working hard. When the day comes, I know he’ll show the world the special talent he has to offer,” he added.
Asante managed to score twice during Charleroi’s preseason, but a knee injury earlier in the season sidelined him until December. As a result, he has only made two appearances in the Jupiler Pro League so far. With his permanent move now complete, he is expected to gain increased playing time in the coming months.
