Prince Dube, having forced his departure from Tanzanian Premier League side Azam FC, is moments away from joining the league defending champions Young Africans Sports Club, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
The Zimbabwean international was released earlier today by Azam after forcing a move away, despite having two seasons left on his contract. Dube reportedly requested a release in May, and the two parties reached a monetary compromise of $150,000.
Dube will now join Young Africans on a three-year contract.
“Young Africans have paid Azam the remainder of his contract, and he will soon join the team. All terms have been agreed with the player, who is excited to join the project,” a source at Young Africans disclosed in a phone interview.
The forward is one of the most sought-after players in his position, having impressed at Azam over the past three seasons with 47 goals in 59 domestic appearances.
Dube is expected to be a key player in Young Africansβ quest to become one of the powerhouses in African football. In the last campaign, they reached the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League but were eliminated by South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has previously featured for Zimbabweβs The Highlanders on two separate occasions, as well as Supersport United (twice) and Black Leopards in South Africa’s top-tier and second-tier leagues, respectively.
Since making his debut in 2017, Dube has earned 15 international caps for Zimbabwe’s national senior team, The Warriors.
