Serbian SuperLiga side OFK Beograd have expressed strong interest in permanently signing on-loan Kenyan midfielder Richard Odada from Scottish club Dundee United, as per Africa Foot.
Odada, 24, joined OFK Beograd on a six-month loan deal from Dundee United during the January transfer window. With just months to go before the summer transfer market opens, Beograd head coach Simo Krunic is keen on securing the versatile midfielder on a long-term basis as he looks to build a competitive squad for next season.
In an exclusive interview with Africa Foot Morrison Olem—Odada’s cousin and a member of his management agency PassWay Group—revealed that OFK Beograd have made their intentions clear, but the final decision now rests with Dundee United.
“Beograd have made several attempts to sign Richard (Odada) on a permanent deal, but Dundee haven’t made a decision yet,” Olem said. “They want to turn his loan permanent, and that has been the case since he joined them. Beograd are prepared to offer him a three-year contract, but ultimately, it lies with Dundee—they have the final decision.”
At the end of the current season, Odada will have one year remaining on his Dundee United contract. Sources suggest that the Scottish side would prefer to avoid losing him for free next year, which could push them towards sanctioning a sale this summer.
Since joining OFK Beograd on loan, Odada has made five appearances, establishing himself as a key figure in the Serbian club’s midfield. Before his temporary move, he featured 13 times for Dundee United in the 2023/24 campaign.
Odada’s journey has seen him represent several clubs across different leagues, including Philadelphia Union II in MLS Next Pro, Danish outfit Aalborg BK (on loan), and Serbian sides Metalac, Crvena Zvezda, and Graficar Beograd. Earlier in his career, he also played for Kenyan giants FC Leopards.
On the international stage, Odada made his debut for Kenya’s senior national team, the Harambee Stars, in 2022. Since then, he has earned 24 caps and scored one goal, solidifying his role as a regular in the squad.
