The 15-year-old forward inked a deal that will keep him at the club until mid-2027, marking a significant milestone in his budding career.
Ampofo, who hails from Ghana, joined AZ last year from the amateur club ASC Waterwijk in Almere. During his debut season, he made a remarkable impression, quickly becoming a key player in the AZ Under-15 squad under coach Sander Veraart.Β
His outstanding performances culminated in being named Player of the Tournament at the U15 Kolping International Cup in May, where AZ secured a third-place finish.
Reflecting on his achievement, Ampofo expressed his joy and gratitude.Β
“I’m very happy and thankful for this opportunity,” said the winger. “The beginning was tough when I first joined AZ, as I had to adapt to the new environment and intensity. I worked extra hard every day in training and at home, and this contract feels like a reward for all that effort.”
Looking ahead, Ampofo has set ambitious goals for the upcoming season with the AZ Under-16 team.Β
“I want to score more goals and provide more assists than last season. I aim to be important in every match for my team and ultimately aspire to reach AZ’s first team, following the path of Jayden Addai.”
