Black Stars defender Razak Simpson has revealed in an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa that his current focus is on helping Ghana Premier League leaders Nations FC. However, he also expressed his ambition to reach the levels of his idol, Thiago Silva, in the future.
The 26-year-old made his first start under Otto Addo during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola. In that match, Ghana secured a 1-1 draw but failed to qualify for the continental showpiece for the first time in two decades. Simpson also featured a few days later in a match against Niger.
The former Ashanti Gold defender received widespread praise from fans following his performances. He has since been linked with potential transfers both locally and abroad, with rumors of interest from Asante Kotoko and other African clubs. According to Transfermarkt, Simpsonβs current market value is estimated at β¬125,000, reflecting his rising profile and potential.
“I have to keep doing what I do best. Iβll help my team [Nations FC] maintain our momentum at the top of the Ghana Premier League table, and weβll see what happens. I want to go as far as possible. Iβm not comparing myself to Thiago Silva, but heβs my role model. I want to reach the heights he has achieved,” Simpson said in an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa.
Simpson’s idol, Thiago Silva, has had an illustrious career, playing for top European clubs such as AC Milan, PSG, and Chelsea, where he won the Champions League trophy with the Blues in 2021.
In his second season with Nations FC, having joined from WAFA, Simpson has made 10 appearances so far. Nations FC currently sits atop the Ghana Premier League table with 22 points.
