Ugandan international and left-back Ibrahim Juma is on the verge of completing a return to Spanish La Liga outfit CD Leganés, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
This comes a month after his departure from 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC, following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. The 20-year-old parted ways with the club after signing with his new agent, Phsport.
According to sources at Phsport, Leganés has offered Juma a three-year contract. The youngster is expected to travel to Spain next week, where he will finalize a deal in principle ahead of the summer transfer window.
“Negotiations for Juma to return to Leganés have been concluded, and he will join them in June this year. He’ll be in Spain by Thursday next week to finalize all the details, so it’s safe to consider it a done deal. The offer from Leganés is for three years, with an option for an additional year,” a source exclusively disclosed to The Nerve Africa.
Juma was previously at Leganés between 2022 and 2024, featuring for the club’s youth development sides, including the U19s and Leganés B, where he played 17 and 13 games, respectively. His spell at the club came as part of a loan move from KCCA FC.
This season, before his departure from KCCA, the left-back—who can also be deployed as a central defender or a defensive midfielder—made seven appearances across the Uganda Premier League and the FUFA Super 8 tournament.
At the international level, Juma has progressed through Uganda’s youth national teams, captaining the U15s, U17s, and U20s. He has since earned two senior caps for the Uganda Cranes, registering one assist in the process.
