Ugandan forward Charles Bbaale has departed Rwandan top-flight club Rayon Sport FC ahead of a pending transfer to Egypt Premier League side Cleopatra Ceramica FC, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Bbaale has left the Rwanda Premier League leaders after one and a half seasons. The prolific striker parted ways with Rayon Sport by mutual consent, cutting short his initial two-year contract with six months remaining before its expiration.
According to sources at Prosper Sports Agency, which represents the 25-year-old, Cleopatra Ceramica has expressed strong interest and tabled a two-year offer. The Egyptian club has reportedly offered β¬35,000 (approximately 132 million Ugandan Shillings) as a signing fee.
“It’s true he [Bbaale] has left Rayon Sport, and he’s joining Cleopatra Ceramica, as an agreement is close. He’s back in Uganda to secure clearance before flying out to Egypt to finalize negotiations and undergo a medical. The deal is decent and gives him a chance to showcase his ability on a bigger stage,” a source told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
Under experienced Brazilian manager Robertinho, Bbaale has had limited playing time at Rayon Sport this season, making six appearances and scoring three goals. Last season, he netted 11 goals in 24 matches across the League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Bbaale joined the Rwandan club following an impressive stint at Uganda Premier League record-holders and defending champions SC Villa, where he scored 13 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.
On the international stage, Bbaale has represented the Uganda National Senior Team, the Cranes, on two occasions but is yet to record a goal involvement. He will be eager to make an impression in Egypt as he aims to secure a spot in Uganda’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
