Zambian striker Marcel Zimba has signed with Bulgarian Premier League club Botev Plovdiv for an undisclosed period and fee from Atletico Lusaka, as per the Bulgarian club’s official website.
Currently sitting second in the Bulgarian top flight with 28 points from 12 games this season, Botev Plovdiv announced Zimba’s arrival on Monday morning.
“Offensive footballer Marcel Zimba is the latest addition to Botev (Plovdiv). Born on April 11, 2006, in Zambia, the talent joined the club during the summer transfer window, and we now welcome him officially. He joins the Canaries from Atletico Lusaka and will provide another option in the team’s attack,” the club stated.
According to Atletico Lusaka, Zimba is expected to make his debut for Botev Plovdiv in January after taking a personal break.
He expressed his excitement about joining the team: “I am thrilled to join Botev. This is a tribute to my late mother,” he said. “I want to express my gratitude to Atletico Lusaka for shaping my football career and to my agent, Nir Karin, for facilitating this transfer.”
Atletico Lusaka, through agent Nir Karin, has continued to export young players to Europe. In August, 18-year-old winger Gift Siame signed a five-year contract with Club Deportivo Leganés in Spain’s La Liga.
