Following the expiry of his contract with Uganda Premier League outfit Kitara FC, experienced forward Brian Aheebwa is destined to join Egyptian side Haras El Hadoud The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
The 30-year-old ran out his contract with Kitara at the end of August this year, and negotiations for a renewal stalled after he made his intentions for an exit known to the club. Through his agent Prosper Sports Agency, he has since been in search for a new home.
Per sources close to Prosper Sports Agency, negotiations with Haras El Hadoud kicked off on Tuesday this week, with all parties finding a breakthrough earlier on Friday. Aheebwa will thus sign a two-year contract in Egypt that will run at least until the end of the 2026 season.
βAt 30 years, Aheebwa was ready for the next step in his career, and we’re glad an agreement with Haras El Hadoud has been reached. A two-year contract provides a bit of stability for the future. He’ll travel on Monday for the medical tests, and subsequently sign the contract,β a source at Prosper Sports Agency told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.Β
Β As he departed Kitara, Aheebwa left on a high note as he had scored once in two CAF Confederation Cup preliminary games against Libyan side Al Hilal Benghazi. Overall with the Royals, he played 26 games, netting seven goals and assisting on eight occasions.Β
He has previously featured for 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC, where he played four seasons. In the past, he also played for boyhood club Mbarara City FC.Β
Meanwhile, on the Uganda National Senior team the Cranes, Aheebwa, who debuted in 2021 in the African Nations Championships (CHAN), has made five competitive caps, scoring one goal with two assists.
