Victor Osimhen is closing in on a return for Galatasaray, with the Nigeria striker expected to feature against Kasımpaşa before next week’s Champions League meeting with Barcelona.
Osimhen has continued his rehabilitation in Nigeria after missing the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The 27-year-old suffered a right groin injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 win over İstanbul Başakşehir on 4 September. Medical tests revealed a strain in the right adductor muscle group, ruling him out of the club’s Champions League opener against Sporting CP and several league matches.
According to reports in Turkey, Galatasaray are planning a cautious return against Kasımpaşa at RAMS Park on Friday, 9 October. Manager Okan Buruk is reportedly considering giving Osimhen around 30 minutes rather than naming him in the starting line-up.
That appearance could allow the striker to regain match sharpness ahead of Galatasaray’s Champions League clash with Barcelona four days later.
Osimhen made a strong start to the season before his injury, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his first four Süper Lig appearances.
Galatasaray will hope his return can help them maintain their title challenge as they look to close the gap on league leaders Amed SK.
