Defender Elio Capradossi, who has Ugandan, DR Congolese, and Italian roots, is set to leave the Italian lower league outfit Lecco Calcio, sources close to The Nerve Africa have disclosed.Β
Major doubts at Lecco Calcio have arisen about their desire to renew his contract, with his current deal set to expire on June 30. A source revealed the player is likely to move on.
“Elio is frustrated with the club. There were initial talks earlier in April, but nothing was agreed upon. Nothing has happened since then, and it’s highly unlikely he will stay for sure. Unless something drastic happens at this point.”
Recent rumors have linked the 28-year-old to Ascoli, which, like Lecco Calcio, is fresh in the Italian Serie C, having been relegated from Serie B in the recently concluded campaign.
Capradossi, whose Transfermarkt value is estimated at β¬475,000, joined Lecco Calcio in January this season after one and a half years at Cagliari and has played six matches. He has spent most of the spell on the bench. He has previously played for AS Roma, SPAL, Bari, and Spezia in various Italian divisions. He has also represented Italy at various youth levels, including U-16, U-17, U-19, U-20, and U-21.
However, he will represent the Uganda National Senior team, having received his maiden call-up this month for the forthcoming 2026 World Cup qualification matches against Botswana and Algeria.
