Massively experienced Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi will decide his future at the end of the 2023/2024 season, as he edges closer to the end of his contract with Motherwell, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learnt.Β
Mugabi, who has been with the Scottish Premier League side for five seasons, is set to see his contract expire on May 31 this year. In a brief phone interview with The Nerve Africa, the gigantic defender was tight-lipped about his next move.
“I’m only focused on finishing the season strongly with the team. After that, we shall see what happens next, I am happy at Motherwell,” he added, though he did not disclose his next move.
Despite playing just 10 minutes in the past three matches, he has been a major pillar in Stuart Kettlewell’s side, playing 30 Scottish Premier League matches this season. This tally is 17 games more than he played in the entirety of the last campaign.
Since joining Motherwell in the 2019/2020 season, the 29-year-old has appeared in 107 league matches. Across all competitions, he has tallied 123 appearances for The Steelmen.
Previously, Mugabi, who is valued at β¬369,000 according to Transfermarkt, played for English teams Yeovil Town in League Two and the Southampton U21 team.
With the Uganda national team, he has managed 20 caps since debuting in 2017. He captained the team in the March 2024 international friendly matches against Comoros and Ghana.
