Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis has officially completed a move to the Turkish Super Lig, signing a season-long loan deal with Istanbul Basaksehir, the club announced today.
Dennis joined Nottingham Forest from Watford last season after an impressive Premier League campaign, during which he notched up ten goals and six assists in 37 appearances. However, his time at Nottingham Forest didn’t quite unfold as planned. During his tenure at the club, Dennis struggled to secure regular playing time, featuring in only 25 matches, with the majority of them coming off the bench.
Nottingham Forest’s manager, Steve Cooper, seemed unconvinced by the Super Eagles player’s performance, leading to Dennis finding himself on the outskirts of the team. As the new season approached, it became evident that the 25-year-old attacker would continue to face challenges in receiving playing time.
Consequently, rumors began to circulate about his potential departure, with various Premier League and international clubs expressing interest. Adding fuel to the speculation was Dennis’s absence from the pitch, as he had yet to feature in any games this season.
Earlier, whispers linked the Super Eagles star with a move to the Turkish top-flight club Basaksehir. These speculations were recently put to rest as renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal’s completion. The club has now officially confirmed the deal.
Emmanuel Dennis is poised to enhance Istanbul Basaksehir’s attacking potential for the upcoming season as he embarks on a season-long loan transfer. Notably, the deal does not include a buy-out clause, leaving his future with Nottingham Forest uncertain.
However, should Dennis make a significant impact during his loan spell in Turkey, there exists a possibility that he may return to Nottingham Forest next season. According to Transfermarkt, the player’s current transfer value is โฌ8 million, with his highest estimated value reaching โฌ17 million in March 2020.
