Despite having a running contract with Azam FC, Tanzanian midfielder Faisal Salum Abdalla, also known as Fei Toto, has attracted interest from rivals Simba SC, The Nerve Africa had exclusively learned.
Salum has one year left before his contract with last season’s Tanzania Premier League runners-up, Azam FC, expires. However, Simba SC, who finished third, have made their interest publicly known.
In an interview with The Nerve Africa, Simba’s Information and Communications Department Manager, Ahmed Ally, said the club is serious about signing the player and confident in their pursuit to secure his signature.
“It is true that the player is in our plans. For Fei Toto (Salum), it is a matter of putting money on the table to take him; we shall get him for sure. There are also other new players we are monitoring in the market according to the recommendations of the technical bench to sign them and strengthen our squad for the next season,” said Ahmed.
Salum is one of the most sought-after players in the Tanzanian league, having scored 16 goals and provided six assists in just 15 games last season. He joined Azam FC from giants Young Africans SC, where he scored 14 goals in 27 domestic games over two seasons.
For the Tanzanian National Senior team, the Taifa Stars, the 26-year-old, who made his debut in 2020, has accumulated 27 international caps. However, he has scored just three goals in the process.
