Ugandan international midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda is set to leave SC Villa, the most decorated club and reigning champions of the Uganda Premier League, to join Rwandan powerhouse APR FC on a two-year deal, according to exclusive information obtained by Africa Foot.
Ssekiganda’s contract with SC Villa is due to expire in June, and sources close to the player confirm that all formalities have been finalized for his move to APR. Negotiations for a contract extension with SC Villa reportedly broke down after the club failed to meet his financial demands.
The move to APR FC comes after a failed transfer to Czech club FK Viktoria Ε½iΕΎkov earlier this year. Although an agreement had been reached between all parties, the deal collapsed at the last minute due to visa issues preventing Ssekiganda from securing a work permit.
A source from Prosper Sports Agency, which represents the player, confirmed the details of the APR deal, stating that Ssekiganda will receive a β¬20,000 signing bonus and a monthly salary of β¬2,200. The source told Africa Foot:
βEverything is finalized. All agreements are in place, and Ronald will join APR at the end of the season. The pre-contract will be signed next week. Villa did not value him enough with their renewal offers, so we had no choice but to explore other opportunities. We strongly believe APR is the right club to help him take the next step in his career.β
Ssekiganda, 21, has featured in 14 league matches this season for SC Villa, scoring once and providing five assists. Last season, he played a crucial role in helping the club secure its 17th league title, contributing three goals and six assists in 26 appearances.
On the international stage, Ssekiganda made his debut for the Uganda Cranes last year and has since earned 11 caps, scoring once and providing two assists. He was instrumental in helping Uganda qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.
