Spanish La Liga outfit Real Betis have entered negotiations with Swiss top-flight side FC Basel over the transfer of Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjei Adjetey, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Real Betis have made an offer of β¬4 million to Basel for the 21-year-old central defender. Notably, the player still has three years remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2028.
In an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa, a source at Adjetey’s representation agency, SBE Management AG, revealed that the Spanish club had inquired about the player’s contract situation, with plans to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
βThe two clubs (Basel and Real Betis) have been in contact over the past two days. Real Betis view him as a future top defender and want to sign him before his market value increases. Itβs still early, but itβs a positive situationβespecially because Jonas (Adjetey) is keen on the move,β the source told The Nerve Africa.
Adjetey, whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at β¬4 million, has made 26 appearances this season across all competitions. He has played 38 matches since joining the senior team last season. Previously, he played for Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea.
Internationally, Adjetey made his debut for the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, last year. He has since earned two competitive caps and shows strong potential for more appearances in the future.
