Ugandan midfielder Brian Mukasa is on the verge of leaving German lower-league side FSV Fernwald as he prepares to join Bundesliga 2 outfit Eintracht Braunschweig, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Mukasa, whose contract with Fernwald is set to expire in June this year, is expected to depart and sign a three-year deal with Eintracht Braunschweig early next week. This follows an agreement on personal terms with the player and a transfer fee of β¬75,000 paid to Fernwald.
Sources close to the player have revealed that Eintracht Braunschweig has offered him a three-year contract. The 29-year-old is enthusiastic about the move, which represents a significant leap from Germany’s seventh division to the second tier of its football pyramid.
βThe agreement is in place with Brian (Mukasa) and his club (Fernwald) with Eintracht Braunschweig. He’ll undergo his medical on Monday and sign the paperwork. A three-year deal with a Bundesliga 2 team is something that Brian and his family have welcomed, given where he has been over the past four years,β the source told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
This season, Mukasa, who primarily operates as an attacking midfielder, has made 21 appearances for Fernwald, scoring six goals and providing four assists. This marks an improvement from last season, during which he scored two goals and registered four assists in 31 appearances.
Overall, in two-and-a-half seasons at Fernwald, Mukasa has featured in 78 matches, scoring 15 goals and contributing 13 assists. Previously, he played for German sides FC Giessen and TSG Wieseck in the country’s lower divisions.
On the international stage, Mukasa, who is eligible to represent both Germany and Uganda, has yet to earn a competitive cap for either nation. However, he has received three call-ups to the Uganda Cranes in the past.
