Manchester United is reportedly eyeing a January transfer move for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy as they seek to bolster their attacking options and provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund as Goal.com reports.Β
Guirassy has enjoyed a stellar start to the Bundesliga season, scoring an impressive 15 goals in just eight starts, catapulting Stuttgart into the Champions League discussion.Β
According to Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old’s current market value is estimated at β¬40 million. However, reports from The Guardian suggest that Manchester United is keenly interested in securing Guirassy’s services, given that his contract with Stuttgart includes a release clause of just β¬17.5 million.
The Red Devils are said to have engaged in talks with the player’s representatives to explore the possibility of a January transfer. This interest has been sparked by Rasmus Hojlund’s challenging start to his Premier League career, where he has yet to register a goal or assist.
Serhou Guirassy could offer a more seasoned option to complement Hojlund’s efforts on the field. However, there is a potential hurdle to any immediate move, as the Guinean forward is expected to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations in January, which could see him absent from club duties for approximately a month.
The competition for Guirassy’s signature is intense, with Newcastle reportedly considering him as part of their offensive reinforcements. Teams such as West Ham, Fulham, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth have also been linked to the talented striker in the past.
Guirassy has made Bundesliga history this season by setting a new record for goals scored after seven fixtures, with an impressive tally of 13, surpassing Robert Lewandowski’s landmark of 11 goals.
While Manchester United is said to be interested, there is still some distance to go before any concrete move materializes. In the meantime, Guirassy is set to continue his performances with Stuttgart, starting with their upcoming clash against Werder Bremen this weekend.Β
