After being promoted to the Premier League the Foxes have exercised their option to permanently acquire winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku in a deal worth €17 million, Football Ghana reports.
The Ghanaian international, who joined the Foxes on loan from Sporting Lisbon last summer, has impressed during his stint at the English Championship side.
Issahaku’s contributions have been significant throughout the season, with 39 appearances yielding six goals and an impressive 13 assists in the league, placing him as the club’s second-highest assist provider behind Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Confirmation of the deal came from Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim, who acknowledged the imminent transfer and emphasized the financial gain for the Portuguese club.
“We will make money. Talented players who don’t adapt here will move to other clubs and give us added value, it’s our system,” stated Amorim.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku originally joined Sporting Lisbon in 2022 from Ghanaian club Steadfast FC, with his loan move to Leicester proving fruitful for both player and club. As part of the transfer agreement, Steadfast FC stands to receive €7,9 million, thanks to a sell-on clause negotiated into Issahaku’s contract when he made the move to Sporting.
