Market Value: Significant Growth Following Breakthrough Season in LA
By the time of his MLS debut, the Ghanaian’s transfer value had quadrupled. The first two seasons in America were challenging for Kwadwo Opoku as he initially struggled to adapt to the team and then suffered a serious knee injury. As a result, his transfer fee only increased by โฌ50,000.ย
However, in the 2022 season, Opoku contributed to 12 goals and, along with his club, won their first MLS Cup and second Supporters’ Shield, and his value increased by more than 13 times. The Ghanaian striker continued to score after moving to CF Montreal, leading to a further โฌ500,000 increase in his transfer sum. Currently, Transfermarkt values Kwadwo Opoku at โฌ2.5 million, placing him third among the most valuable players of CF Montreal.

National Team
Kwadwo Opoku made his debut for the Ghana youth national team in the spring of 2017 at the African Nations Cup U17. However, he played only one match in that tournament, when the Black Stars reached the final, where they were narrowly defeated by Mali. In the summer of 2023, Opoku was included in the preliminary squad for the African Nations Cup U23, but Los Angeles FC did not release the Ghanaian winger to join the national team. He has yet to play for the senior national team.
Footbal and Financial Prospects
In the 2024 season, Kwadwo Opoku remains one of the key players for the Canadian team. If the Ghanaian striker helps CF Montreal reach the playoffs this year, there is a possibility of extending his contract with the club on improved terms or attracting the attention of European clubs.
