The Italian giants are in advanced talks to secure a deal for Harambee Stars and Stade de Reims defender Joseph Okumu, Pulse Sports reports.
The Romans have identified the 27-year-old as a key target to bolster their defense, following the recent acquisition of Enzo Le Fee.
The Kenyan media outlet refers to Tuttomercatoweb, who insist that Roma are keen on the Kenyan international and have communicated their interest to the player’s representatives. The transfer is expected to cost around €15 million, while Transfermarkt estimates the player’s current value at €9 million.
Okumu joined Reims in March 2023 from Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent, where he made a significant impact. Before his stint in Belgium, he showcased his talents at Swedish side Elfsborg.

Tracing his roots back to Chemelil town in Kisumu, Okumu’s journey to European football is inspiring. He joined Chemelil Sugar in January 2016 straight from Kakamega High School, quickly making a name for himself in the local league. His impressive performances earned him a senior national team debut on May 31 that year in a friendly match against Sudan in Nairobi.
Okumu’s rise continued with a move to South Africa’s Premier League upon recommendation by former national team captain Musa Otieno. His time in South Africa further honed his defensive skills, making him a sought-after talent in Europe.
