“I’m Going to Give My All” – Kizza Determined to Help Telecom SC Reach the Premier League

Upon completing his anticipated move to Egyptian second division side Telecom SC, Ugandan international Mustafa Kizza has set his targets clearly: prioritizing the club’s ambitions alongside his individual goals.

Kizza is determined to walk the long journey with the heavily invested club, committed to their pursuit of glory, particularly achieving promotion to the Egyptian Premier League. He dreams of winning silverware with Telecom, etching his name into their history books.

β€œLook, this club has given me a chance to play professional football outside my country, so I’m going to give my allβ€”heart and bodyβ€”just to help achieve the set ambitions,” an utterly confident Kizza said in an exclusive interview withΒ The Nerve Africa.

β€œWhen I signed, I found clearly defined ambitions, and at the top of that list is playing in the Premier League next season. Everything at the clubβ€”in terms of the coaching, the players, facilities, and everythingβ€”is geared towards achieving this goal,” the left-back added.

At the moment, Telecom are unbeaten this season and sit fifth in their division, having accumulated five points in three games. They’re within touching distance of the top three promotion places. In their next outing, they will be guests at Al Mokawloon on Sunday, where Kizza is expected to make his debut.

β€œWell, I’ve trained for a couple of days, and I have more time to prepare for the game on Sunday. I’m in great shapeβ€”fitter than I’ve been in a very long timeβ€”so it’ll be fantastic if I make my first appearance here. It would be a massive honor, if I’m being honest,” he reiterated.

Kizza hopes to use his minutes on the pitch to reignite his return to the Uganda National Senior Team, the Cranes. His last competitive appearance for the national team was in 2021 during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. At 25, he believes he can still contribute, especially as the country looks to return to the Africa Cup of Nations.

β€œThis is an opportunity to perhaps reclaim my spot on the national team. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication here at my club, and through that, I can be seen again. In this case, my club, myself, and my country will all benefit from my performances here. I can’t wait to get started.”

Meanwhile, Kizza has previously played outside Uganda for CF Montreal in Canada and Arouca FC in Portugal. In the Uganda Premier League, he played for his boyhood club KCCA FC and most recently Express FC.
