RC Sporting Charleroi has announced the signing of Ghanaian striker Grejohn Kyei on a season-long loan from Standard Liège, with an option to make the move permanent, as per the club’s official website.
As Charleroi looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season, Kyei, 29, brings significant experience to the team. Having developed at Stade de Reims, the French-Ghanaian forward has played 279 professional games, netting 62 goals and providing 25 assists throughout his career.
Kyei’s career has taken him to several prominent clubs, including RC Lens, Swiss side Servette FC, and French Ligue 1 outfit Clermont Foot 63 before his recent stint at Standard Liège.
Charleroi’s interest in Kyei is not new; the club has pursued the striker in previous transfer windows, including in 2018 and 2022. This time, they managed to seal the deal, offering coach Felice Mazzù a new attacking option for the upcoming campaign. Standing at 1.87 meters, Kyei adds a different dynamic to Charleroi’s frontline, and the club is optimistic about how well he will fit into their system.
