Asante Kotoko SC is close to securing the transfer of Medeama SC’s attacking midfielder Godfred Abban, according to reports from Ghana Soccernet.
Abban’s strong performances in the Ghana Premier League last season have attracted the attention of Kotokoโs head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, who is eager to bolster his squad with the midfielder’s talents.
Abban featured in 19 league matches last season, scoring two goals. He also made appearances in the CAF Champions League, facing off against teams like Remo Stars and CR Belouizdad. His playmaking skills and ability to find the net have made him a desirable target for Kotoko, who are looking to enhance their attacking options.
Last season, while on loan at Tamale City from Medeama, Abban contributed one goal and five assists across 25 games. With only eight months remaining on his current contract, Medeama faces a tough decision on whether to cash in on the midfielder now or retain him for the upcoming season.
Abban, who has been an integral part of Medeamaโs squad since joining from Asokwa Deportivo in 2020, now finds himself at the center of a potential move that could see him join one of Ghanaโs top clubs. The next few days could be crucial as Kotoko pushes to finalize the deal.
