Young Gambian international midfielder, Mahmudu Bajo, is set to join Slovakian Nike League club DAC 1914 on a permanent transfer from FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova, according to The Nerve Africa sources.
The two clubs agreed on a deal on Tuesday after long and tense negotiations amidst interest from France, Germany, Belgium, and Denmark. However, it was DAC that met their demands and agreed to the terms.
Bajo joined Zeleziarne in July 2023 from Gambian outfit RS Tallinding shortly after leaving the acclaimed Granada CF U19. He has since played a key role in the Podbrezova team, making 32 appearances for the club.
In the 2024 winter transfer window, Bajo received initial offers from Czech club Slovan Liberec and Al-Wahda from the United Arab Emirates, both of which were rejected by his club.
Fast forward to June 2024, the possibility of leaving Zeleziarne became higher as he first received an offer from their league champions, Slovan Bratislava, which was also turned down. Since then, numerous bids were made by clubs in France, Germany, Belgium, and Denmark, but none met the demands of the Slovakians.
DAC, now close to sealing a move for the 19-year-old, must have brought to the table the €600,000 market value of the youngster.
