Tanzanian international Feisal Salum has rejected a new contract offer from local side Azam FC, further fueling speculation about his potential move to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs FC, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
His current contract with Azam is set to expire at the end of the 2024-2025 Tanzania Premier League season. The club presented him with a three-year extension offer on Friday, but the midfielder has turned it down.
Reliable reports from Tanzania and South Africa indicate that Kaizer Chiefs are the frontrunners to sign him in the summer transfer window. The club nearly secured his services in the June 2024 window, but Azam rejected their β¬300,000 (approximately 790 million Tanzanian Shillings) bid.
A source close to the playerβs family has exclusively disclosed to The Nerve Africa that Salum plans to leave when his contract expires in June this year, bringing an end to his successful two-year spell with Azam.
βFeisal (Salum) has made his decision and informed the club that he will not extend his contract. He has enjoyed and continues to enjoy his time at Azam, as it is a massive club, but he wants to explore new opportunities at the end of the season. A move to Kaizer Chiefs? This season at Azam, Salumβwhose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at β¬150,000βhas scored four goals and provided eight assists in 11 appearances across the Tanzania Premier League and the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
In the previous campaign, his debut season at the club, he scored an impressive 16 goals and registered six assists in just 15 games. Before joining Azam, Salum played for rivals Young Africans SC, where he spent two seasons, scoring 11 goals and delivering eight assists in 33 matches.
For the Tanzanian national team, the Taifa Stars, Salum has earned 38 competitive caps, scoring four goals and providing 11 assists.
