Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel “Ema” Boateng has solidified his future at Major League Soccer (MLS) club New England Revolution, as the team exercised its option to extend his contract for another year, as per the clubβs official website. Β
The 30-year-old’s reliable performances during the 2024 season were instrumental in this decision.
Boateng, a seasoned MLS player, initially rejoined New England Revolution at the start of the 2024 season, marking another chapter in his professional journey with the club.Β
Over the course of the campaign, he made 23 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists. While the Revolution fell short of clinching a playoff spot, Boatengβs individual displays were enough to earn him a place in the squad for the upcoming season.
The midfielderβs career in the United States began in 2012 when he transitioned from the prestigious Right to Dream Academy in Ghana to Santa Barbara, California. Following a stint in Sweden, Boateng broke into MLS in 2016 with LA Galaxy. His career has since spanned multiple teams, including DC United and Columbus Crew, where he was part of the squad that lifted the MLS Cup in 2020.
Since joining New England Revolution in 2021, Boateng has become a versatile and experienced asset in their lineup. His new deal ensures he will remain a key part of the team’s plans as they aim for a stronger campaign in 2025.
Boatengβs extension is a testament to his consistency and resilience as a player, with New England banking on his experience to help turn their fortunes around in the upcoming season.
