Kenyan youngster Frank Onyango Odhiambo is on the verge of leaving Swedish top-flight side Djurgardens IF to join Danish outfit Horsens FC, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Odhiambo spent last season on loan with Swedish third-division side AFC Eskilstuna but has since returned to Djurgardens. However, with his contract set to expire in November this year, he is considered surplus to requirements at the club.
Djurgardens have not offered him an extension and are open to letting him leave before the end of the summer transfer window. A source at his representing agency, EMG Mundial, disclosed that negotiations with Horsens took place this week and have been positive.
βFrank (Odhiambo) is a young and talented player who deserves respect and regular game time. Horsens have shown that they are willing to offer that. Talks have been positive, and he will sign a four-year contract. This is supposed to be Frank’s big stepping stone to bigger dreams,β the source said.
The 21-year-old, whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at β¬100,000, played 13 matches at Eskilstuna last season during his loan stint across all competitions, contributing with a goal.
Meanwhile, Odhiambo, who can also operate as a right-back and a defensive midfielder, has previously featured for Swedish sides Vasalunds IF, IFK Haninge, and Djurgardens U21, as well as Kenyan powerhouse Gor Mahia FC.
Odhiambo’s rise as a future national team star has seen him represent Kenya at various youth levels, including U15, U17, and U21. For the senior team, the Harambee Stars, he has made one competitive appearance, which came in 2021.
