Ugandan international Elio Capradossi is set to extend his stay at Italian Serie B side AS Cittadella, as the club has tabled a new three-year contract offer, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
The 28-year-old defender, who joined Cittadella as a free agent in November 2023, initially signed a deal running until June 2025. However, his strong performances have impressed head coach Alessandro Dal Canto, prompting the club to offer him a long-term extension.
Capradossiβs Impact at Cittadella
When Capradossi arrived, Cittadella was struggling in 19th place, deep in the relegation zone. Since then, he has played a key role in stabilizing the team’s defense, helping them climb to 12th place with 33 pointsβnow on course to avoid relegation.
Sources close to All4Football, the agency representing Capradossi, have confirmed the contract offer, which includes a salary increase from β¬3,000 to β¬4,100 per week.
“Cittadella have made a new contract offer to Elio (Capradossi), with three years and β¬4,100 a week on the table. We are now reviewing all the details and his other available options before making a final decision. However, the feeling is that he will extend, as he is happy at the club,” a source exclusively told The Nerve Africa.
Capradossiβs Journey Through Italian Football
Born in 1996 to an Italian father and Ugandan mother, Capradossi developed his footballing skills at the AS Roma youth academy. He made his professional debut with Bari from 2016 to 2018 before returning to Roma, where he featured in Serie A. Over the years, he has played for several Italian clubs, including Spezia, SPAL, Cagliari, and Lecco, before making the move to Cittadella.
International Career with Uganda
On the international stage, Capradossi made his debut for Ugandaβs national team, the Cranes, in June 2024, helping them secure a 1-0 win over Botswana in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers. Since then, he has earned four caps for Uganda.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all indications suggest Capradossi is likely to commit his future to Cittadella, where he has quickly become a key figure in their defensive setup.
