Togo international Yaw Annor exclusively told The Nerve Africa, that he believes his national team teammate Kevin Denkey has made a smart decision by completing a reported β¬16.2 million transfer to Cincinnati from Belgian club Brugge.
Earlier it was officially announced that Denkey will join the MLS club. The move has been described as “historic,” with the transfer fee reportedly the highest ever spent by Cincinnati to recruit a new player. Β
Denkey has been a key figure for the Togolese national team since his debut in 2018, scoring nine goals in 38 appearances. He recently found the net in Togo’s 3-0 win over Equatorial Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in mid-November, where Yaw Annor also scored a brace.
“He’s a very good player. He’s strong and skillful. He’s moving to Cincinnati, a big club in America. I think it’s a very good move for him. The MLS is an attractive league. A lot of players have been moving there these days. He knows this move will help him, that’s why he went there,” Yaw Annor told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
Denkey is expected to join Cincinnati in early 2025. Annor, who has Ghanaian heritage but pledged his allegiance to Togo, has made eight appearances for the national team, scoring two goals.
