Spanish Segunda side Granada CF are on the verge of losing promising Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei Opong to English Championship outfit Burnley, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
The development follows Burnleyβs clear intentions to negotiate personal terms with the 19-year-old defender through his representatives at Best of You Agency. Notably, Naaseiβs contract with Granada still has one and a half years remaining.
While discussions between Burnley and the player are ongoing, it has been reported that Granada are demanding β¬2 million as compensation for the remainder of his contract. However, sources at Best of You Agency have indicated that Burnley are only willing to pay β¬750,000, potentially complicating negotiations.
βThe club (Burnley) has reached out regarding the contract situation for Oscar (Naasei) at Granada. The boy is ready for the move, but it will depend on the negotiations with Granada. They want β¬2 million, but Burnley are offering β¬750,000 because the player has less than two years on his contract. We are hopeful that a compromise will be reached this month,β a source told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
This season at Granada, Naasei has made six appearances across the Spanish Segunda (division 2) and the Copa del Rey. He has also featured in six additional games for Recreativo Granada, the clubβs reserve team. Last season, the 19-year-old played 31 matches for Recreativo Granada and Granada U19.
At the international level, Naasei has yet to play a competitive match for Ghanaβs senior national team, the Black Stars. However, he has previously represented the country at youth levels, featuring for the U17 and U20 teams.
