After returning to Ligue 1, AS Saint-Etienne made a significant investment by signing four players under 23 years old including the Ghanaian Augustine Boakye, who finally broke through last season and received his first major career opportunity.

Now, having secured a lucrative contract, the young player will fight for a place in the starting lineup, just as he did years ago in Austria. His goal is to help his new team maintain its position in the French top division.

What is Augustine Boakye’s Salary at AS Saint-Etienne?

The Ghanaian international joined Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2024 on a contract that runs until June 30, 2028. Over four years in France, Boakye will earn €2,880,000, excluding bonuses. For the 2024/2025 season alone, the midfielder will receive €720,000, which breaks down to €13,846 per week.

Market Value: Rapid Growth in the Last Austrian Season

Augustine Boakye

Boakye’s transfer value steadily rose during his time in Ghana. In the 2020/21 season, he registered 20 goal contributions for the West African Football Academy, leading to his move to Europe, with his transfer fee increasing by almost 3.5 times. Although plagued by knee injuries, which slowed his progress, his market value still grew 2.5 times over the next few years. During the 2023/24 season, Boakye became the second top scorer at Wolfsberger AC with 19 goal contributions. By the time he transferred to AS Saint-Etienne, his value had peaked, increasing fivefold. Currently, Transfermarkt.com values the midfielder at €3 million, making him the fourth most valuable player at AS Saint-Etienne.

National Team and Achievements

Augustine Boakye began attracting serious attention only last season. As a result, he has not yet been called up to the Ghana national team and has not won any major team trophies. However, Boakye has some individual achievements, such as being the top scorer at West African Football Academy in the 2020/21 season and finishing second in the top scorer list at Wolfsberger AC during the 2023/24 campaign.

Football and Financial Prospects

The 2024/2025 season started on the bench for Augustine Boakye, with the Ghanaian midfielder mostly coming on as a substitute. Additionally, he missed about a month due to a leg injury, which likely hampered his chances of establishing himself as a starter right away. If he can recover and help AS Saint-Etienne secure their place in Ligue 1, Boakye will likely see more opportunities for development and boost his chances of earning a national team call-up.
