The close move of Gambian International striker Assan Ceesay to Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al-Fayha FC from US Lecce has collapsed for an undisclosed reason.
Assan was reportedly close to joining the Saudi club on €3 million deal with a salary of €2 million per year to become one of the outstanding names leaving Europe for the fast-growing middle East league.
However, the club has now switched attention to another player who comes from Zambia, not Gambia – Fashion Sakala. The former Spartak Moscow striker joined the Saudi side on a two-year deal from Scottish giants Rangers FC.
The Scorpions talisman, who now looks like to stay at Lecce ahead of the new Italian Serie A league season, a few days ago rebutted media reports of signing with Al-Fayha.
Ceesay’s current market value is €2.5 million, and has earlier received a €1 million offer from another Saudi club Abha FC but was rejected by his Italian employers who seem to be asking for more.
