Ugandan winger Alpha Thierry Ssali has traveled to Spain ahead of a potential transfer from Uganda Premier League side Express FC to Spanish Segunda Divisiรณn club Racing Ferrol, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Under the guidance of his Spanish representatives at Khaled Catalunya Management, Ssali will undergo trials with Racing Ferrol before a decision is made on proceeding with a transfer from Express, the seven-time Uganda Premier League champions.
The 21-year-old still has six months remaining on his current contract with Express FC. The club is reportedly open to a sale if Racing Ferrol decides to sign the player. Should Ssali impress during the trials, the Segunda Divisiรณn side is expected to offer him a four-year contract.
โAlpha (Ssali) arrived in Spain on Sunday and will have trials for ten days at Racing Ferrol. The Segunda club wants to exercise extra caution before finalizing the transfer. If he performs well, they have expressed their intent to offer him a four-year contract, so a deal could be finalized before the transfer window closes,โ a source at Khaled Catalunya Management told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
In the first half of the 2024/2025 Uganda Premier League season, Ssali has scored one goal and provided three assists in 12 appearances for Express FC. Last season, he played 23 league matches, scoring three goals and contributing five assists. Prior to joining Express, Ssali played for FUFA Regional League side Proline FC.
Internationally, Ssali has represented Uganda at the U17, U20, and U23 levels, earning a combined total of 11 appearances with two goals and three assists. He has also made two appearances for the senior national team, the Cranes, though he is yet to register a direct goal contribution.
