Saudi Pro League side Al Fayha announced on Tuesday night that they have extended Zambian international Fashion Sakala’s contract until 2026. The Nerve Africa has exclusively confirmed the player’s new salary.
Following his impressive season with Al Fayha, Sakala became a transfer target for other Saudi Arabian clubs, but in the end his contract with the current club was extended. The Nerve Africa has established via reliable sources that Sakala’s new contract with Al Fayha comes with an improved salary of over $500,000 per month, what calculates to $6 million annually.
Saudi Arabian publication Asharq Al-Awsat reported last week that Al-Ettifaq coach Steven Gerrard, who previously coached Sakala at Rangers in Scotland, wanted to reunite with the 27-year-old forward.
Close sources to Sakala also revealed to Nerve Africa that the Chipolopolo attacker was offered a significant amount by Al-Ettifaq ahead of the next season.
In response to the interest, Al Fayha said in a statement,
“The Al Fayha Club Board of Directors, led by Dr. Tawfiq Saleh Almodihem, has completed the procedures to extend the contract of professional player Fashion Junior Sakala with the first team for an additional season until 2026.”
The club also revealed that Sakala and his family are happy to stay with the club.
“This decision was made because both sides wanted to keep the team strong. Sakala is happy to stay with Al Fayha, and his family enjoys living in Saudi Arabia and playing in a top league that is improving. He promised to work hard to make Al Fayha fans happy and help the team reach its goals.”
Sakala finished joint-third in the Saudi Professional League scoring chart last season with 19 goals, alongside Abderrazak Hamdallah, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo (35) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (28).
