In a significant transfer development, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has confirmed his permanent transfer to Leicester City this summer. The announcement was made during the Ghana Football Awards, as reported by Ghana Soccernet.
Issahaku initially joined Leicester City on loan from Portuguese club Sporting CP last summer. The Ghanaian international played a crucial role in Leicester City’s successful promotion back to the Premier League, delivering an impressive performance with six goals and 13 assists.
Leicester City is set to activate the β¬17 million buyout clause after Issahaku featured in over 60% of their matches last season. This decision underscores the club’s commitment to retaining the talented winger, despite a transfer embargo related to profit and sustainability rule violations in the 2022/23 season.
The transfer will benefit Steadfast FC, Issahaku’s former club, which is slated to receive 50% of the transfer fee. Sporting CP, who signed Issahaku in 2022 for β¬1,2 million, will share the substantial gain of β¬15,8 million equally with Steadfast FC, resulting in each club receiving β¬7,9 million.
Issahaku’s permanent move marks a significant step in his career and a notable investment for Leicester City as they prepare for their first after promotion Premier League campaign.
