Will there be reduction in Callum Hudson-Odoi’s wage in Nottingham Forest FC? The Nerve Africa looks at British born Ghanaian player’s salary history.
The Englishman with Ghanaian roots and passport has completed his permanent move from his boyhood club Chelsea FC to Nottingham Forest FC this summer. After several loans and injuries during the last three seasons Hudson-Odoi, 22, has agreed to leave London and seek for playing time elsewhere.
In 2020, when his future was the topic for different kinds of speculation, including the potential move to Bayern Munich, at that time the 19-year-old player renewed his contract with the reported salary estimated from £100,000 to £120,000 per week.
Nevertheless, the midfielder failed to become a solid starter at Stamford Bridge and was seeking more playing time. In 2022 he moves to Germany, joining Bayer Leverkusen on loan. According to the Bild at that time Hudson-Odoi agreed to take the salary cut to 7 million Euros per year so the loan deal could go through.
The leading German media insisted that Leverkusen was responsible for paying the player 3 million Euros, when Chelsea was paying the rest of 7 million Euros.
During the summer the Englishman joined the Nottingham Forest, there were no reports on the player’s salary.
Regarding the fact that there was only one year of the contract with the Blues left, what means that the transfer fee could have been reduced, there is a high possibility that the 22-year-old midfielder agreed himself good terms.
