North Macedonian top-flight club Brera Strumica are in advanced talks to sign Ugandan midfielder Shafiq Kagimu on a permanent transfer from Rabotnicki FC, The Nerve Africa can exclusively confirm.
Kagimu, 26, joined Rabotnicki in January 2024 on a two-year contract but was immediately loaned out to Brera Strumica for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. After a standout spell on loan, Brera Strumica have now made their interest official and are pushing to secure his services on a permanent basis.
A source close to the player told The Nerve Africa that the club is offering Kagimu a three-year contract and that the Ugandan international is open to the move.
“Shafiq (Kagimu) has performed beyond expectations at Brera Strumica since arriving on loan. The club is eager to keep him long-term and is now awaiting Rabotnicki’s response. Shafiq is open to staying but will allow both clubs to finalize the negotiations. He’s focused on football and remains professional,” the source revealed.
Kagimu’s Impressive Form at Brera Strumica
Since joining Brera Strumica, Kagimu has made 16 appearances, playing the full 90 minutes in each of the last 12 matches. He has contributed one assist and delivered consistent midfield performances that have caught the attention of fans and club officials alike.
Before his loan, the former Gor Mahia and URA FC star featured in 12 matches for Rabotnicki, also recording one assist. In the 2023–24 season, Kagimu played 21 of Rabotnicki’s 33 league fixtures, helping them finish eighth in the Macedonian First League with 42 points.
Shafiq Kagimu’s Career and Transfer Market Value
Kagimu is currently valued at €150,000 on Transfermarkt. He moved to Rabotnicki from Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia, where he spent less than a year. Before that, he enjoyed a successful four-year stint at Uganda’s URA FC, scoring 17 goals in 80 league matches.
Uganda Cranes Midfielder Eyes European Stability
On the international stage, Kagimu made his senior debut for the Uganda Cranes in 2019 and has earned nine caps since. His performances in North Macedonia are now positioning him for long-term success in European football.
