Long-serving Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa is set to extend his stay with the seven-time Uganda Premier League champions, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned. Karisa, who has already spent over seven years at the club, is expected to sign a new two-year contract that will keep him at Vipers until the end of the 2026/27 season.
His current deal is set to expire in June 2025, but Vipers have acted swiftly to secure their experienced winger amid interest from Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC and Rwandan side APR FC.
Talks Near Completion With Club And Agents
The contract extension follows negotiations between Vipers and Karisaβs representatives at Assist Sport Casa. According to sources at the club, talks have reached the final stages, with all parties now in agreement.
βItβs now a matter of when rather than if. Karisa is going to pen a new contract at Vipers. Talks have been ongoing for two weeks and are now at the final stage. Vipers president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa is determined to keep him, especially with the CAF Champions League campaign coming up next season,β a club source told Africa Foot.
Vipers Fend Off Regional Transfer Interest
Karisa, arguably Vipersβ most influential player, was the subject of interest from clubs in Egypt, Tanzania, and South Africa during the 2023/24 season. However, the Ugandan champions turned down all offers to keep their captain at the clubβs Kitende base.
Impressive Performance Despite Injury Setback
Despite being sidelined for over two months due to injury, the 29-year-old delivered another productive campaign in 2023/24. He scored 10 goals and registered five assists in 24 matches. In the previous season, Karisa tallied 11 goals and four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
Decorated Career In The Uganda Premier League
Karisaβs individual accolades speak volumes about his impact on the league. In the 2022/23 season, he was named Uganda Premier League Player of the Season and also picked up awards for Most Assists, inclusion in the Best XI, and Coachesβ Player of the Season.
