Yusupha Njieβs career is derailing due to two unsuccessful loans The 2024/2025 season is proving to be a complete failure for Yusupha Njie. During this time, the forward has played for two teams but has failed to establish himself as a key player for either. Furthermore, his last goal was over a year ago, scored while he was with Al-Markhiya SC. Given his current performance and unstable playing time, it is unlikely that the Qatari club will extend his contract for another season. Consequently, by summer, the experienced Njie could lose his current salary and become a free agent.

Market value: constant decline after leaving Europe
After spending four years in the Moroccan league, Njieβs value skyrocketed fourfold upon moving to Europe. His spell at Boavista F.C. was a rollercoaster – he struggled with injuries, yet his transfer fee mysteriously climbed fivefold during this period. Although his playing time increased in the following two years, his value took a hit, decreasing by more than 1.5 times due to the teamβs poor performances in the Primeira Liga. Then came his renaissance – the 2022/23 season was the most productive of Njieβs career, during which he recorded 16 goal involvements and became the teamβs top scorer.Β
By the time he transferred to Al-Markhiya SC, his value had increased 2.5 times, reaching its peak. But even that wasnβt enough to secure his place and despite impressive results in Qatar, he was loaned out, leading to a decline in his value. After a Brazilian adventure fell through, Njie joined S.C. Farense, and by the time he returned to Portugal, his transfer fee had decreased by 1.5 times. Currently, Transfermarkt.com values him at β¬1 million, making him the fifth highest among players at the Portuguese club.

Achievements with the National team
Yusupha Njie made his debut for the Gambian U-17 national team in January 2011. He participated in the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where Gambia managed to win only one match and failed to advance from the group stage. In June 2017, Njie earned his first call-up to the senior national team of Gambia. Five years later, he experienced a career highlight, participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, where the national team made a historic run to the quarter-finals before losing to Cameroon. The last time Njie was called up to the Gambian national team was in May 2022. To date, he has played seven matches for the national team, gaining valuable experience on the international stage.
Prospects
Yusupha Njie spent the first part of the 2024/2025 season in Brazil with Santos Futebol Clube. However, he did not make a single appearance in six months. In February 2025, he transferred to S.C. Farense. Since then, Njie has been getting more playing time and has started more frequently, yet he has yet to register a single goal or assist. If he does not help the Portuguese club maintain its status in the Primeira Liga, he will likely return to Qatar at the end of his loan agreement.
