Young Ugandan goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi is set to leave English National League side Barnet FC at the end of the current season, casting uncertainty over the next chapter of his career, as per Africa Foot.
Bellagambi, 23, joined Barnet in the summer of 2023 on a one-year contract, but his time at the club has been marked by a lack of playing opportunities under head coach Dean Brennan. His current deal will officially expire on June 30, and the player is now preparing to move on in search of more consistent game time.
In an exclusive interview with Africa Foot Bellagambi confirmed that his spell with The Bees is over and that his focus has shifted toward finding a club where he can actively compete for minutes between the sticks.
“Look, I have no regrets joining this great team, but things haven’t exactly gone as I expected,” Bellagambi said. “I think it’s just about time to look for somewhere else.”
“I’m incredibly grateful that Barnet gave me the opportunity to sign here. I was welcomed and treated well, which means a lot. But now I need some assurances on playing time. I’m always ready to play, and I won’t stop working hard to earn it.”
As for his next destination, Bellagambi is keeping his options open.
“We’ll see what comes next, but for now, I want to finish this campaign strongly and help the team push for promotion,” he added. “I’ll let my camp—Rafuel Performance Management—handle things. I trust them to find the right club for my development.”
Before joining Barnet, Bellagambi spent the majority of his early career at Huddersfield Town, progressing through the club’s academy system. During his time there, he had several loan spells, including stints at Ebbsfleet United, Spennymoor Town, and Salford City, gaining valuable lower-league experience.
On the international front, Bellagambi has earned one senior cap for Uganda, featuring in a 1–0 friendly defeat to Tanzania in 2022. Although he has received several call-ups since then, he has yet to add to his tally for the Uganda Cranes.
