Ghanaian midfielder Ebenezer Ofori has revealed that the project presented to him by Lithuanian club FK Žalgiris Vilnius was the biggest factor in his recent move.
Ofori, currently valued at €200,000 by Transfermarkt, joined Žalgiris as a free agent, months after leaving Danish side Vejle BK. He signed a two-year deal, signaling the possibility of a long-term stay at the club.
The former Stuttgart man is looking forward to making an impact at a club currently sitting fourth in the Lithuanian top-flight table, with five points from three matches, and who were league champions in 2024.
“Football is my passion, so it doesn’t matter where I play. Yes, it’s a new country for me, but I chose Žalgiris because I was attracted to the project and the ambitions of the club when I spoke to the management. I am looking forward to helping the club win more trophies and hopefully achieve more success in Europe,” he said in an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa.
The 29-year-old began his senior career with Ghanaian side New Edubiase United before moving abroad, where he featured for clubs such as AIK, VfB Stuttgart, and New York City FC.
He has made nine appearances for the Black Stars, including a stint at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. The defensive and central midfielder has scored one goal for his country.
