Ghanaian forward Benjamin Bernard Boateng has exclusively revealed to The Nerve Africa that he left Egyptian side Al Ittihad Alexandria to join Libyan powerhouse Al-Nasr Benghazi in search of a new challenge.
The 24-year-old began his professional career with Elmina Sharks before moving to Alexandria in 2021. After a loan spell with fellow Egyptian side Smouha SC during the 2022/23 season, the winger returned to Alexandria, where he spent the past one and a half years.
Boateng has made seven appearances in the Egyptian league this season, but now, he has opted for a change of scenery in Libya, aiming to achieve something special with his new club.
“Tasting the beautiful game in North Africa hasn’t been bad in Egypt, and I’ve been wanting more. Even though I’ve won Man of the Match awards here and there, the biggest factor behind my move was to seek a new challenge and, more importantly, to win trophies with Al-Nasr,” he said in an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa.
“My target is to win the league with the team and make better progress in the CAF Champions League. I also want to earn a place in the national team, the Black Stars,” he added.
