Over a month after leaving Egyptian giants Zamalek SC, Ugandan attacking midfielder Travis Mutyaba is on the verge of joining French outfit FC Girondins Bordeaux, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Mutyaba parted ways with Zamalek in August, having initially signed with them in January. He has since been a free agent, looking for his next destination. Initial reports had suggested that he would join Reims FC, but The Nerve Africa has confirmed that it is Bordeaux.
Sources close to his representatives, Prosper Sports Uganda, have indicated that the 19-year-old is already in France and is currently undergoing his medicals with the historical powerhouse. While Bordeaux was relegated to the Championnat National 2 (fourth-tier) due to financial constraints, the club remains one of the historical heavyweights in France.
Mutyaba is set to sign a five-year contract and is expected to be a key figure for Bordeaux manager Bruno Lrles in his quest to bring the club back to the top.
