Fresh from excelling with the Kenyan National Senior team in the September Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, midfielder Amos Nondi has finalized talks on a contract renewal with Armenian outfit Ararat-Armenia, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Nondi, who still has a year left on his current contract, will sign a new two-year deal that will keep him at the club until at least 2027. Having returned to Armenia on Wednesday following his national team duties, he is expected to sign the deal by Friday.
The player, who could not hide his excitement over the improved offer, disclosed the developments in an exclusive phone interview with The Nerve Africa, shortly after helping Kenya to a 2-1 victory over Namibia on Tuesday.
βI wanted to stay, and Iβm glad that my wish has been granted. We held talks before I joined the national team. I should sign by Fridayβnothing to hide. Itβs better than the previous deal, but thatβs all I can share. The most important thing is that Iβm staying, and my family is really happy.β
It should be noted that Nondi has spent the past two seasons at Ararat-Armenia, where he has established himself as a key player for the team. The 25-year-old has made 55 competitive appearances during that time.
This season, he has already made six appearances, four of which came in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. His versatility has seen him play both as a defensive midfielder and as a right-back on certain occasions.
Meanwhile, for the national team, the Harambee Stars, Nondi β whose TransferMarkt valuation is estimated at β¬225,000 β has earned 15 caps since his debut in 2021.
