Days after leaving Danish First Division outfit AC Horsens, Ugandan playmaker and winger Rogers Mugisha is set to join Greek Second Division side Apollon Pontou, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Mugisha departed from Horsens earlier this week after mutually agreeing to terminate his two-year contract. He had only been with the club for seven months, having joined in January.
In search of more playing time, Mugisha’s representatives, All Conti Sports Agency, have secured a deal with Apollon Pontou. The parties have agreed on the personal terms for the player, with the club offering him a three-year contract.
In an interview, a source at All Conti Sports Agency confirmed the developments, stating that the player, who is currently in Denmark, will sign the necessary documents as soon as he completes the medical tests, scheduled for Sunday.
“All negotiations are complete. Rogers (Mugisha) prioritized playing time over money. Apollon Pontou have given us their word, and the boy will travel for his medical on Sunday. This is particularly important for the player, as he is eager to show his potential in Europe,” the source said.
At Horsens in Denmark, the 21-year-old struggled for minutes on the pitch, playing just one senior team game in the 2023/24 season. He also featured twice with the club’s youth side, failing to find the back of the net on both occasions.
Meanwhile, on the international stage, Mugisha, whose TransferMarkt valuation is estimated at β¬25,000, has progressed through various national youth levels, playing for the U17s, U20s, and U23 teams. He has also earned one competitive cap with the senior team, the Uganda Cranes.
