Days after exiting his boyhood Uganda Premier League club KCCA FC, left-back Mustafa Kizza has entered talks with North Macedonian Second Football League side FK Bregalnica Stip, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Kizza confirmed his departure from 13-time Ugandan champions KCCA in the preceding week by mutual consent, allowing for talks with Bregalnica Stip to proceed. His entourage has been in contact with the club over the last two days.
A source closely working with the player confirmed the developments, asserting that Bregalnica Stip wants the 24-year-old to sign a two-year contract.Β
βTalks took place on Friday and Saturday, but it’s not concrete as yet. They will resume earlier in the coming week. They (Bregalnica) want him to sign for two years.β
Should a deal materialize, Kizza could join compatriot and Uganda Cranes defender Halid Lwaliwa, who has been at the club for two seasons. In the country, he would also link up with Ugandan midfielder Shafik Kuchi Kagimu, who plays for FK Rabotnicki.
Kizza, a product of KCCA’s Academy, joined the latter as a teenager in 2015 and played for the development side until 2016. He then joined Maroons FC on loan at the beginning of the 2016-17 season and later returned to KCCA in January 2017, playing for the senior team for three years.
In July 2020, KCCA agreed with Montreal Impact, a Canadian professional soccer team based in Montreal, Quebec, to transfer the full-back. Kizza later left Montreal Impact in 2021 and joined Arouca for the 2022/23 season in the Primeira Liga, Portugal, a spell cut midway through that campaign. That was before he returned to KCCA.
Meanwhile, Kizza has completed nine international caps with the Uganda National Senior team, the Cranes, since debuting in 2019. In the process, he has managed a goal and two assists.
