East African heavyweights Simba SC are set to complete the signing of Burkina Faso national senior team defender Valentin Nouma, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Nouma is currently a free agent after running down his contract with Democratic Republic of Congo topflight outfit FC Saint Eloi Lupopo at the end of the season. He is currently high on Simba’s radar for a potential move, with negotiations commencing in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
An official at Simba, who preferred anonymity given the sensitivity of the developments, disclosed that the club contacted Nouma and his representatives, and that positive talks have been held for the past few days.
βNouma will join Simba if the talks continue in the current direction. He is convinced the project at Simba is worth it, but it also has to be at the right fee for both parties. We wait and see what happens in the next few days, but it’s positive,β said the source in a phone interview.
Nouma, whose current TransferMarket value is estimated at β¬150K, is expected to be among Simba’s first signings as they hope to build a strong team to challenge rivals Young Africansβ dominance. The former haven’t tasted league glory for the last three campaigns.
Before joining Saint Eloi Lupopo, Nouma, who can play at left-back and central defence, had been with Senegalese side AS Douanes, with whom he participated in the CAF Champions League. He has also previously played for Burkinabe Premier League side Rahimo FC.
Having made his debut with the Burkina Faso national senior team in 2018, Nouma has earned six caps. He was part of their squad for the recently concluded World Cup qualification matches, where they lost 2-1 to Egypt and drew 2-2 with Sierra Leone.
