The Hammers have announced that Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang will leave the club when his contract expires on June 30, 2024 via their social media platform. The 23-year-old, who joined the Premier League side in 2017, will depart after seven years with the London East End club.
Despite largely playing a peripheral role at West Ham, Anang was part of the squad that won the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, though he did not make any appearances during the tournament. Over the past two seasons, he served as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper and was included in over 30 first-team matchday squads.
In a statement, West Ham United confirmed the departures of both Joseph Anang and defender Angelo Ogbonna, noting Anang’s contributions and development during his time with the club. “Anang has served as No3 goalkeeper for the past two seasons and has appeared in over 30 first-team matchday squads, including six as West Ham won the UEFA Europa Conference League last term,” the statement read.
We can confirm that Angelo Ogbonna and Joseph Anang will leave the Club when their contracts expire on 30 June 2024.
Everyone at the Club would like to thank Angelo and Joseph for their commitment in Claret & Blue and wish them the best in the future.
